Healthy Maori

Bay of Plenty has the highest number of Maori providers (over 50) in the country and also the largest Maori development organisation. We are working towards increasing Maori for Maori services.

Local iwi play a key role in assisting the Bay of Plenty District Health Board to reach high-need, at risk, communities.

The Tangata Whenua He Pou Oranga framework and Iwi Health plans will support whanau, hapu and iwi to manage health within their rohe, and to participate in health planning processes. Read more about Maori health planning.
