Women, Child and Family

This service covers paediatrics, maternity and gynaecology services for Tauranga, Whakatane and the surrounding district.

Both maternity units are secondary care services with level two special care baby units, with all primary care being provided by independent midwives having access agreements to our facilities. All units have achieved baby friendly hospital status.

The core staff midwives and nurses, with the support of obstetricians and paediatricians, provide the secondary care for maternity, and for the special care baby units.

We also have Opotiki and Murupara primary care units attended by independent midwives.

Access to elective services is on the basis of referral from General Practitioners or Consultants. For further details click here.
